DECADENCE & DEBAUCHERY
Built in the 1870’s, Werribee Mansion has for more than 100 years continued to be a place of decadence, celebration and debauchery. Nestled in its lush surrounds of manicured gardens, leafy trees and expansive green lawns, it makes for the perfect backdrop for a festival that continues on with this venue’s playful legacy, whilst heralding the start of each new year.
Set across five stages, Let Them Eat Cake bought to us electronic artists and DJs that are known around the world together with some of the best talent Melbourne has produced in more recent years. As you meandered through the gardens, from one stage to the next, the sounds from each of them bled into a heady a mix: this adds to the hedonistic and dream like state that this festival crafts so effortlessly.
Let Them Eat Cake not only offers up the chance to have a good boogie with friends old and new. It allowed for some more subtle delights too. Set in such sprawling gardens, one could easily find a shady spot to rest and reflect. The sensory and feel good overload, made complete by an array of food trucks serving culinary delights, matched with summery cocktails served at the bars which dotted the grounds.
Let Them Eat Cake feels like all the fun of your twenties but with a dash of sophistication, and a lot less regret the morning after.
