THE AGE MUSIC VICTORIA AWARDS
Now in its in 12th year, The Age Music Victoria Awards co-presented by Triple R 102.7FM and PBS 106.7FM was held at 170 Russell. For our local music industries, this is the night of nights held in celebration of the great music produced here in Victoria. Not only was the evening for recognising our local musicians, a whole swag of performances took place from the likes of Mojo Juju, Birdz, and The Teskey Brothers amongst others.
Jen Cloher took out Best Female Artist while Best Venue went to a Collingwood legend, The Tote. Other winners included A.B. Original for Best Album, Best Hip Hop Album and Best Aboriginal Act. This year’s Hall Of Fame inductee was Tony Cohen, who in his time was a record producer based in Melbourne best known for his work with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and The Birthday Party. The after party didn’t dare disappoint, featuring live sets from recent Glastonbury-goers Harvey Sutherland & Bermuda, local post-punks Gold Class, and rising powerhouse trio Cable Ties. The night certainly blew the roof off 170 Russell, and rightly so. Our local artists are forever at the forefront of Australia’s music scene with their progressive, innovative and unique takes on the world.
