On the lands of The Kulin Nations, our fine city built. Each year in solidarity and recognition of a culture that existed here for thousands of year, Tanderrum,  a ceremony of the five clans of the Central Kulin Nation, marks the beginning of what is unquestionably Australia’s premier arts event, Melbourne Festival. Having become over the past few years, a vital and public event, in times where Indigenous communities are still fighting for the same rights afforded to others. Tanderrum with sand, fire, leaves and bark makes a space, and it’s a space to be shared.
